Employment Law

Employment law focuses on the relationship between the Employer and the Employee in the workplace. A great workplace is built on good communication, respect, balance and trust between the parties.

Employees are more likely to be productive if they enjoy their workplace and feel valued in their role. Employers are more likely to be able to effectively manage their teams and create a successful business when their employees are working with them.

  • Are you being treated fairly in the workplace?
  • Have you sustained injuries in the workplace?
  • Do you have concerns about your pay?
  • Did you unfairly lose your job, be made redundant or have no other choice but to resign?
  • Are you going through a show cause and not sure how to deal with the process?
  • Are you going through the process of securing new employment and need assistance with negotiating better employment terms?
  • Have your workplace rights been breached?
  • Are you a business that needs assistance drafting legal agreements, policies, procedures and contracts to run your business effectively?
  • Are you providing and maintaining a safe, comfortable and secure workplace for your employees?

Most employees are protected under the Fair Work Work Act 2009 (Cth) (FWA) and the National Employee Standards (NES). Conditions and rights in the FWA and the NES represent an employee’s minimum entitlements which must be provided by an Employer. It’s important to note here that no employer or employee is lawfully able to negotiate around, contract out and relinquish the 10 minimum employment entitlements under the NES.

Here at V.A.J. Byrne & Co. Lawyers, we are dedicated to seeking fairness in the workplace and working with you to ensure you get the most out of your employment or business.
